This past weekend I had the pleasure of staying in Edenhall Estate’s crown jewel property; the Log Cabin. This property encapsulates the essence of Edenhall, tranquil isolation in nature while yet maintaining comfort and a perfectly relaxing feel.

The Log Cabin was constructed by hand using materials and logs from the estate’s forests, giving it that extra connection to your surrounding environment. The feel and colouring of the log structure emulate the warmth and reflect the light soothingly and softly; it gives the Log Cabin an enchanting glow during the dark and quiet nights within the forest. During a rainy Saturday evening, there is nothing I love more than sitting on the porch and listening to the droplets hit the roof.

The concept of a hunter’s lodge is embraced by the Log Cabin. An open and inviting floor plan, a mezzanine off a twin bedroom, and sliding doors that bring the nature feel to the couch, all work to keep the cabin connected to the simplistic and functional aspects of its inspiration, a simple hunter’s lodge, facilitating escape into nature.

My next favourite aspect of the log cabin would have to be its built-in deck hot tub. Just as the evening is winding down, I think to myself: what could make this moment just a little bit more special… a hot tub! And that’s exactly what the Lodge has to offer. The best ritual is to first take a relaxing minute in the hot tub, grab a drink and get warm, but just as you start to sweat, jump into the flowing river 20 feet away, cool off, and hop back into the hot tub.

Why the lodge is such a popular and cherished spot at Edenhall Estate becomes clear the moment you wander down the forest path from the parking lot. This magical property has me always coming back for more. A family weekend away, or a romantic honeymoon, the lodge is a wonderful spot for all to enjoy the nature of the Lake District and Edenhall Estate.
